India's ace shuttler PV Sindhu has suffered an early exit from the Hong Kong Open was knocked out of the Hong Kong Open Super 500 tournament. Sindhu, who had reached the BWF World Championships quarterfinals last month, lost her women's singles round-of-32 match to unseeded Danish player Line Christophersen with a score of 21-15, 16-21, 19-21.

On the men's side, however, HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen secured hard-fought victories to advance. Prannoy, ranked 34th in the world, defeated China's 14th-ranked Lu Guang Zu 21-17, 21-14 in just 44 minutes. Sen started his campaign with a grueling 22-20, 16-21, 21-15 win to earn his spot in the men's singles pre-quarterfinals. Moreover, Kiran George and Ayush Shetty also advanced. George secured his place in the men's singles last 16 by defeating Singapore's higher-ranked Jia Heng Jason Teh 21-16, 21-11 in a 34-minute match. World No. 31 Ayush Shetty overcame a strong challenge from Chinese-Taipei's Su Li Yang with a score of 15-21, 21-19, 21-13 in just over an hour to also secure his spot in the last 16.

Sindhu started strong, taking an early 3-1 lead in the first game. Although her opponent, Line Christophersen, managed to tie the score at 5-all, Sindhu found her rhythm, and from a 14-13 lead, she went on to win the first game, allowing Christophersen only one more point. However, the second game saw a shift in momentum. Sindhu was leading 13-12 before a series of unforced errors allowed her opponent to score five consecutive points, giving Christophersen the advantage. The final game was a tense affair, with both players fighting hard and staying neck and neck all the way to 19-all. In the end, two crucial points for Christophersen sealed the win and knocked Sindhu out of the tournament.

In other results, the Indian women's doubles pair of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda secured a decisive win, defeating Hong Kong's Oi Ki Vanessa Pang and Sum Yau Wong 17-21, 9-21 in just 28 minutes. In mixed doubles, the Chinese Taipei pair of Chen Cheng Kuan and Hsu Yin-Hui defeated the Indian duo of Dhruv Kapil and Tanisha Crasto with a score of 16-21, 11-21.

Looking ahead, Rakshitha Ramraj is set to play her round-of-32 singles match against the fifth-seeded former world champion from Thailand, Ratchanok Intanon. Meanwhile, the mixed doubles team of Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Gadde will face the second-seeded Chinese pair of Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping. On Tuesday, India’s top men's doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, had already won their opening round match against Taiwan's Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Wang Chi-Lin.
