UFC has once again shaken up its roster, parting ways with four fighters following a series of disappointing results. While such moves are not unusual, one of the released athletes is experiencing this outcome for the second time in his career.

UFC welcomes new talent as others exit

With the latest season of Dana White’s Contender Series producing a fresh crop of fighters, including 21 new signees so far, the promotion appears to be making space by trimming its roster. For many veterans, this period often marks the end of their UFC journey, especially after consecutive defeats.

According to the latest roster update, Austin Hubbard, Maheshate, Maryna Moroz, and Preston Parsons have all been removed. Each of them struggled in recent outings, with both Hubbard and Moroz suffering three straight losses inside the Octagon.

Maryna Moroz’s suspension complicates matters

Moroz’s case is somewhat unique. The flyweight veteran is currently serving a one-year suspension after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium. Her name may have been removed from the roster temporarily, with the possibility of reinstatement once her suspension ends on July 17, 2026. Moroz, who has fought 13 times in the UFC, still carries name recognition in the division despite her recent setbacks.

Austin Hubbard released for the second time

The most notable name among the cuts is Austin Hubbard, who has now been released by the UFC twice. The former LFA Lightweight Champion first exited the promotion in 2021 following a 3-4 record.

Hubbard earned a second chance in 2023 but was unable to find consistency, ultimately going 4-8 across two stints with the company. His latest run ended with a three-fight losing streak against Zhu Rongzhu, MarQuel Mederos, and Alexander Hernandez. Despite flashes of promise, Hubbard could not maintain the form necessary to secure his place on the roster.

Parsons and Maheshate also depart

Preston Parsons and Maheshate were also cut following back-to-back losses. Neither was able to string together enough wins to build momentum within their respective divisions. Their departures underline the unforgiving nature of the UFC, where one bad stretch of fights can quickly lead to a contract not being renewed.

A reminder of the UFC’s cutthroat nature

Roster changes like these serve as a reminder of the highly competitive environment in the UFC. With younger prospects continuously emerging from Dana White’s Contender Series and other feeder promotions, established fighters must consistently perform to keep their spots.

For Hubbard, this marks another career crossroads, while Moroz’s suspension ensures her immediate future remains uncertain. Parsons and Maheshate now face decisions on whether to regroup in other promotions or fight their way back for another UFC opportunity.
