National Games 2025 hosts Uttarakhand launched eco-friendly infrastructure and venues for the marquee event while taking care of world-class facilities for athletes. The 38th edition of national games is scheduled to take place from January 28 to February 14 featuring 32 sporting disciplines and four demonstration events.
Uttrakhand's newly constructed sports complexes and event venues are designed to have a minimal environmental impact, incorporating innovative technologies and sustainable materials. These eco-friendly infrastructures are built to blend harmoniously with the surrounding natural landscape, ensuring that the beauty of Uttarakhand’s mountains, forests, and rivers is preserved for generations to come.
“The Uttarakhand Games are an opportunity for us to showcase not only the talent and spirit of our athletes but also our commitment to a greener future. Our eco-friendly infrastructure is a testament to the importance we place on sustainability and environmental preservation. With these venues, we are not only preparing for a world-class sporting event, but also contributing to the global movement towards greener and more sustainable event management” said Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Key Features of the Eco-Friendly Infrastructure:
• Energy-Efficient Designs: Venues are equipped with solar panels that generate renewable energy, reducing reliance on the grid. Additionally, energy-efficient LED lighting systems have been installed throughout the facilities.
• Rainwater Harvesting Systems: To ensure responsible water management, all major venues feature rainwater harvesting systems, which collect and store rainwater for irrigation and other non-potable uses.
• Sustainable Construction Materials: Local, sustainable materials such as bamboo and recycled steel have been used in the construction of the venues, minimizing environmental impact and reducing carbon emissions associated with transportation.
• Waste Management Systems: A comprehensive waste management plan has been implemented, with separate bins for recycling and composting, ensuring that the Games maintain a zero-waste policy.
• Natural Landscape Integration: The design of the venues takes inspiration from the natural topography of Uttarakhand, preserving local flora and fauna and minimizing disturbance to wildlife habitats.
The hosts Uttrakhand also prioritised local materials and labor during the construction phase. The venues are designed to be self-sustaining, ensuring minimal reliance on external resources and a long-lasting legacy of sustainability.
