Late WWE Superstar Warned Fans About the True Nature of John Cena Five Years Ago
The Rock signaling John Cena to turn against the undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes, and what followed, will go down as one of the most shocking and iconic moments in the history of the WWE. While the sight dropped the jaw of thousands who were in attendance at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and millions at home, in the aftermath, some eagle-eyed observers brought forward a handful of signs that were present on the scene all along in the build-up and hinted at the major twist well in advance. Moreover, late WWE superstar Windham Rotunda a.k.a. Bray Wyatt had envisaged and disseminated John Cena's true motives five years ago.
In 2020, John Cena and The Fiend Bray Wyatt squared off at the WrestleMania 36. The match between the two was a cinematic brilliance, a storytelling arc that WWE creators initiated during the pandemic. Wyatt won the duel back then and as memorable as the contest was, the words that were hurled by Bray back then have come to life following the culmination of the WWE Elimination Chamber.
“I’m not sick, you are,” Wyatt told Cena in the ring back then. “I know why you came here, John, and I know why you can’t say no.
“You don’t really think we think that you care about the future, do we? I mean, John Cena cares about John Cena, right?!
“It doesn’t matter who he has to smash or bury along the way, as long as he gets his spotlight. Spotlight, yeah, that’s what it’s all about. You crave it, like an addict. You fiend for it…”
Wyatt’s words were, as ever, prophetic, with fans calling back to that address, saying: “Bray Wyatt really foreshadowed about John Cena it actually happen, I miss that man.”
Of the clip that’s now been seen over a million times on X since Cena’s character twist, another added: “Bray Wyatt was ahead of the curve.”
A third said: “A prophet’s prophecy fulfilled. [Bray Wyatt] tried to warn us five years ago,” while another note read: “…Bray knew back then is crazy. Wish he was here to see it…”

John Cena as a Heel
For the unversed, John Cena was a heel at the beginning of his stint with the WWE. His Dr of Thuganomics gimmick still lives as one of the most entertaining gigs in the books of WWE and since he has entered the villain arc again, it will be intriguing to witness whether the freestyling rapper in him, who used to own the other superstars on the mic will return. However, considering the aggressive nature he showcased after winning the chamber, something unique is set to unfold inside the squared circle of the WWE.
