India prepares athletes for Asian Games with mock accommodations replicating Japan facilities

To ensure Indian athletes face no acclimatisation issues during the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, the Sports Authority of India has created mock athletes' quarters in Patiala and Bengaluru. These replicas mimic the unique accommodation style planned in Japan, where competitors will be housed in hotels, a cruise ship, and temporary wooden container-style rooms instead of the traditional athletes' village. The container rooms set up by the Sports Authority are simple yet functional, designed to prepare athletes for the upcoming games effectively.

The container-based rooms are fully air-conditioned units, measuring 40 feet long and 10 feet wide. Each container includes two small twin bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small kitchen, and a living area equipped with a TV and music system. This minimalistic yet practical setup helps athletes adjust to the living conditions they will experience in Japan. Several athletes, including Jinder Pal Singhtoor and Sima Kaliamna, are already training in these accommodations at designated training centers.
