Iga Swiatek got the better off Amanda Anisimova in the Women's singles finals on Saturday, July 12th to lift her first ever Wimbledon trophy at the All England Club. Swiatek was very ruthless in her approach as she defeated Anisimova in straight sets (6-0,6-0) at the Centre Court. Anisimova journey to the finals was emphatic as she defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-final.

This marks the first Wimbledon title in the career of Iga Swiatek, her maiden on grass and her first Grand Slam since completing a hat-trick of French Open wins last year. In the Open Era, it is the first time that a player has failed to win a single game in a Wimbledon singles final, be it men's or women's.
Swiatek showed no mercy and asserted her dominance straight away after taking an early 1-0 lead with a break of serve. She quickly reached 40-0 but Anisimova saved one break point. But, that wasn't enough as Swiatek won the game and followed it up with a top notch service game.
Swiatek continued to apply pressure which further put Anisimova out of her place as she was not able to play freely. The Polish international went 3-0 up with a double break and was able to break her serve on the third occasion to take a 5-0 lead. The first set was concluded in 25 minutes.
Amanda Anisimova had 14 unforced errors in the first set as compared to two of Iga Swiatek. This was Swiatek's second 6-0 set on the trot after her first coming in the semi-final against Belinda Bencic.
Swiatek started the second set from where she left the first. She was able to break early and hold her serve to go 2-0 up. She continued to apply pressure and take a comfortable 3-0 lead with a double break. But, out of the blue Anisimova showed some resilience as she managed to save two break points in the third game. It wasn't enough as Swiatek took advantage on the third opportunity to maintain her control.
Swiatek gave nothing away against Anisimova as she raced to a 5-0 lead in the second set with a third service break on the trot. From there, it was a matter of time before Swiatek crosses the finish line and claims her first Wimbledon title.
