Iga Swiatek has announced her split with coach Wim Fissette following her recent struggles in tennis and her early exit in the Miami Open 2026. The Pole, who slipped to No. 3 in the WTA Rankings this year, is yet to move past the quarterfinals in any of the four events she has played this season.

Fissette joined Swiatek’s team in October 2024 and has played a pivotal role in her growing career. The Polish star won her maiden Wimbledon title in 2025 under him. She also clinched the WTA titles in Seoul and Cincinnati. 

Swiatek, in a post on her social media, stated that she has "decided to take a different path." The tennis sensation thanked Wim for the experience and the titles they achieved together, which also included Swiatek’s “biggest dreams in sport.” While she parted ways with the coach, the rest of her team remained the same. 

Who is Wim Fissette? 

Wim Fissette is a Belgian tennis coach and a former professional player. Along with Swiatek, he has also coached some other well-known WTA players like Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters, Simona Halep, Angelique Kerber, and Naomi Osaka. During his playing career, he reached a career high of 1,291 on 23 August 1999.
