John Cena has done it; he has beaten Cody Rhodes in the Night 2 main event of WrestleMania 41 to become the holder of the undisputed WWE Championship for the 17th time. He was tied with Ric Flair for a considerable period but finally went one up over the Nature Boy. Cena's achievement brought a reaction from Flair.
Ric Flair Reacts to John Cena Winning 17th WWE Title
The 16-time World Champion took to social media to congratulate the first-ever 17-time World Champion. The Hall of Famer sent his flowers to Cena for reaching the unprecedented mark and also gave a shout-out to Cody Rhodes for exhibiting a "classic" show at the Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.
"Congrats To My Great Friend John Cena On Becoming A 17x Champion! It Was Only A Matter Of Time! You And Cody Rhodes Put On An Instant Classic! Much Respect! WOOOOO! #WrestleMania."
John Cena Makes History at WrestleMania 41
Since it was The Rock, who orchestrated the whole John Cena heel turn at the Elimination Chamber, he was expected to interfere and projected to be instrumental in Cena winning the title, moreover, speculations were aloud about a potential Stone Cold Steve Austin returning to stop Cena and The Rock. To the disappointment of the fans, no one returned and to a bigger scathing surprise, it was Travis Scott, who intervened and caused Cody to lose his title.
It came as an underwhelming affair as it only took one low blow and a belt on the head to get the better of Cody Rhodes, the same superstar who went against all the odds to finish his story and beat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. If there is something volatile in the world, it has to be pro wrestling.
Nevertheless, no matter how it came about, the fact is that history has been made. Much like many records, this feat may also remain untouched forever, strengthening the claim that John Cena is indeed the GOAT of WWE.
