Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced Allah Ghazanfar as Mujeeb Ur Rahman's replacement for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

KKR secured a promising young talent Allah Ghazanfar, for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. The 16-year-old Afghan spinner has already impressed at the international level, representing his country in 2 ODIs. While his international experience is limited, he has gained further exposure through three T20 matches and six List A matches. In these matches, he's shown his wicket-taking abilities by claiming five and four wickets respectively.

"Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) named Allah Ghazanfar as a replacement for the injured Mujeeb Ur Rahman while Rajasthan Royals (RR) added Keshav Maharaj to the squad in place of Prasidh Krishna for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024," IPL's statement read.

 

Notably, Mujeeb picked up a right phalanx sprain during the ODI series between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka before pulling out of IPL 2024.

KKR kicked off their IPL 2024 season with a heart-stopping four-run victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium. The match was a high-scoring affair, with KKR posting a challenging total of 209 runs before restricting Hyderabad to 204/7 in a last-ball finish. The excitement continues as KKR now head to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru for a much-anticipated clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) also started their IPL campaign on a winning note, defeating the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 20 runs in their opening match.
