Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Mumbai Indians (MI) made one forced change to the squad for the upcoming season. MI replaced an injured Jason Behrendorff with England’s left-arm pacer Luke Wood.
Wood's T20 numbers
Wood has represented England in five T20Is and two ODIs. He has yet to take his maiden ODI wicket. In T20Is, he has eight scalps so far. The 28-year-old has been roped in by Hardik Pandya-led MI for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. Wood was Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi's highest wicket-taker in the recently-concluded PSL. He picked up 12 wickets from 11 games. His economy rate was 8.24 runs per over. He has played a total of 140 T20s and taken 147 wickets.
Behrendorff’s IPL career
In the previous season, Behrendorff made his debut for MI. He picked up 14 wickets from 12 games. His economy rate was not impressive at 9.21 runs per over. He made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2019. He picked up five wickets from five games and was traded to MI in the 2022 edition.
