India recorded a historic win over Afghanistan in the one-off Test at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Monday, June 8 securing the game in just three days. The dominant result rewrote the record books, surpassing India's previous biggest innings win of an innings and 272 runs against West Indies in Rajkot in 2018.
Big record for Indian Test team
India stayed firmly in control throughout the game, producing another strong display against Afghanistan in the longest format. The result brought back memories of the team's first ever Test game in Bengaluru in 2018, when Afghanistan, playing their first ever Test, were handed an innings defeat in a game that came to an end in three days.

Afghanistan's fightback lasted only until the first session on Day 3, as they were restricted to just 152 in response to India's mammoth 564/4 declared. India's debutant Manav Suthar created an instant impact with an impressive six-wicket haul.
Having a strong lead of 412 runs, India went on to enforce the follow-on.
Asked to follow on, Afghanistan made a decent start in their second innings as Sediqullah Atal and Abdul Malik stitched together a 42-run opening partnership. However, the momentum turned towards India's favour once Mohammed Siraj dismissed Malik, triggering another batting collapse.
Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav then tightened India's grip on the clash, claiming seven wickets between them. Sundar finished the game with figures of 4/36, While Kuldeep also contributed with 3/30 as Afghanistan were bundled out for just 112 in 35.5 overs.
Strong batting display from India in the first innings
In the first innings, India showcased a wonderful batting performance, with skipper Shubman Gill (126) and KL Rahul (100) scoring sublime centuries. Valuable contributions also came from Sai Sudharsan (81), Rishabh Pant (81) and unbeaten half century from Washington Sundar (52), while Mohammad Saleem Safi stood out as Afghanistan's best bowler with a six-wicket haul.
