India claimed a massive nine-wicket win over Afghanistan in the third and final ODI to secure a 3-0 victory in the series. While chasing 218 runs in the second innings, the Men in Blue delivered a fantastic performance with the bat, as Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second ODI hundred, whereas, Rohit Sharma registered an amazing knock of 79 off 69 balls.
Big feat for Rohit Sharma in ODI cricket
The former India skipper smashed nine boundaries and three sixes during his stay at the crease at a strike rate of 114.49. With this half-century in the series finale, Rohit has managed to put himself in an elite list, as he surpassed Mohinder Amarnath to become the oldest Indian batter to score an ODI half-century.
Earlier, the record belonged to Amarnath, who was 39 years and 21 days old when he smashed 88 runs off 80 balls for India against Pakistan in Sharjah on October 15, 1989. On the other hand, Rohit was 39 years and 51 days old when he scored 79 off 69 balls against Afghanistan on June 20, 2026.

Oldest player to score half-century in ODIs
Khurram Khan of the United Arab Emirates holds the record for being the oldest player to register a half-century in ODI cricket. He achieved the milestone at the age of 43 years and 164 days, scoring an unbeaten 85 off 80 deliveries against Afghanistan in Dubai on December 2, 2014.
Notably, Khurram Khan also holds the record for being the oldest player to score an ODI century. The UAE batter was 43 years and 162 days old when he smashed 132 runs against Afghanistan in Dubai on November 30, 2014.
Among players from Test-playing nations, Afghanistan's star all-rounder Mohammad Nabi holds the record for being the oldest batter to hit a half-century in ODIs. Nabi was 40 years and 286 days old when he recorded 62 off 37 balls against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi on October 14, 2025.
