Left-arm spinner Manav Suthar scripted history in Mullanpur as he registered best bowling figures by an Indian left-arm spinner on Test debut. Suthar's six-fer helped India bowl out Afghanistan for 152 in the first session of Day 3. As Afghanistan are trailing by 412 runs, Shubman Gill has enforced follow-on.
Suthar broke Dilip Doshi's 46-year-old record for best bowling figures by an Indian left-arm spinner on Test debut, Doshi had taken six wickets for 103 runs against Australia in Chennai in September 1979. Suthar claimed six wickets for 33 runs against Afghanistan in the ongoing one-off Test.
Afghanistan lose 5 wickets for 39 runs on Day 3
On Day 3, Afghanistan started with an overnight score of 113/5. Rahmat Shah and Azmatullah Omarzai were cautious at the start of the day. Prasidh Krishna got the first wicket of the day. Omarzai played a loose shot and got bowled for a 10-ball duck. Shah reached his half-century from 100 balls, Afghanistan's only half-centurion of the innings.

Sharafuddin Ashraf went for a sweep shot but was caught off Suthar's bowling by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. In his next over, Suthar struck twice to dismiss Shah and Saleem Safi. Shah got out bowled whereas Safi was trapped in front of the wickets. Ziaur Rahman Sharifi arrived at the crease and started with a six. Washington Sundar ended Afghanistan's innings with the wicket of Sharifi to open his account.
Apart from Suthar and Sundar, Krishna bagged three wickets. Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav remained wicketless. Earlier, Abdul Malik, Sediqullah Atal, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi got starts but couldn't convert them into big scores.
