Manav Suthar was handed a debut by Shubman Gill, the Indian Test team’s captain, as the team prepared for an upcoming single test match against Afghanistan. Suthar is a young left-arm spin all-rounder who has constantly made an impact with his bowling, taking wickets at regular intervals along with batting contributions.

Manav Suthar is one of India's emerging young all-rounders, known for his left-arm and valuable contributions with the bat lower down the order. The 23-year-old has established himself as a dependable player while playing for Rajasthan in the domestic circuit and currently plays for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he is rising as a wonderful bowling all-rounder.

Suthar hails from Rajastha's border district of Sri Ganganagar. The left-arm spinning all-rounder has been considered as India's most promising red-ball talents for some time, thanks to his consistent performances in domestic cricket.
With star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja given rest for the Afghanistan Test, the selectors have seized the chance to hand Suthar his maiden cap as part of their efforts to evaluate the next generation of spin-bowling all-rounders in Indian cricket.
Suthar forced his way into the national reckoning with a series of wonderful outings in domestic cricket and for India A. The left-arm spinner first rose to prominence during the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season, where he became Rajasthan's highest wicket-taker, clinching 39 wickets in just six games.
Suthar comes into the Test match on the back of a formidable first-class record where he has amassed a total of 129 wickets alongside contributing 945 runs in 29 matches. Suthar’s impressive record for India A only made matters better and secured him his place in the Indian team.
