Suryakumar Yadav will not accept trophy from Mohsin Naqvi if India win Asia Cup 2025 final: Report
Suryakumar Yadav of India warms up ahead of the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan at Dubai International Stadium on September 14, 2025 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Story Highlights:

India beat Pakistan by seven wickets.

India have sealed their berth for Asia Cup 2025 Super Four.

Suryakumar Yadav-led India will reportedly decided not to share the presentation dais with Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi if the team reaches the tournament final and wins the tournament. The grand finale of the mega event will take place on September 28 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.

Being the ACC president, Naqvi is supposed to hand over the winner’s trophy, but the Indian team is unlikely to accept the silverware should this be the case.

“…it is reliably learnt that if India make the tournament’s final on September 28, the players won’t be sharing the presentation dais with Naqvi, who is expected to hand over the winner’s trophy as ACC head," reports news agency PTI.

Apart from that, there are reports that the India captain won't be shaking hands with the Pakistan counterpart if India again features against Pakistan on September 21.

Earlier, India captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with Salman Ali Agha during the toss of their last clash, and even after the win, Team India went back to the pavilion without shaking hands with the neighbouring nation.

After that incident, PCB  lodged a complaint with the ICC over the actions of match referee Andy Pycroft for allegedly telling the two captains not to shake hands during the toss for their Asia Cup Group A match on Sunday. PCB wants Pycroft to be removed as referee from the Asia Cup.

“The PCB has lodged a complaint with the ICC regarding violations by the Match Referee of the ICC Code of Conduct and the MCC Laws pertaining to the Spirit of Cricket. The PCB has demanded an immediate removal of the Match Referee from the Asia Cup," Naqvi said in a social media post on Monday.

Coming back to the clash, India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets to seal their berth for the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Blue will now face Oman for their third Group Stage clash, which will take place at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi
