West Indies pacer Jayden Seales knows that bowling on Indian conditions will be a difficult task, but is eager to make an 'impact' in the upcoming two-match Test series that is set to commence from October 2. Seales performed brilliantly in West Indies' previous Test series that was against Australia. The seamer took a total of 13 wickets in six innings and the opposing batters struggled massively against him. He can cause major problems for the Indian batters as well.
Seales remarked that the West Indies are well aware of how New Zealand dominated with the ball on Indian soild and whitewashed the series against the Men in Blue by 0-3. He added that the side is looking to play their best cricket and put up a solid fight against Shubman Gill & Co.
"Obviously, this will be tough. The conditions are not very fast-bowler-friendly, and the Indian batters are in good form. They tend to do well at home, so it will be a challenge, but I am looking forward to it. As a team, we are looking forward to playing against India. Yes, we knew what happened to them when New Zealand came here last year. Yes, we are looking forward to playing our best cricket and putting up a fight to win this series against India," Seales told Hindustan Times.
The 24-year-old also stated that the main job of bowlers in Asian conditions is to make an 'impact' on the match. With the form that he is in currently, Seales can very well have a say in the Test against India and can turn out to be quite an important players for the Roston Chase-led team in the series.
"I believe that the fast bowlers' job in Asian countries is to have an impact. Whether you are given the new ball when it's reverse swinging or when you are given the second new ball, it's about making an impact and being aggressive. Just try to make something happen for the team," Seales stated.
Where are the two teams placed on WTC standings?
Meanwhile, India currently sit third on the World Test Championship (WTC) standings with a PCT of 46.67 following their 2-2 series draw against England. On the other hand, West Indies lost their home series against Australia by 0-3 and started the new WTC cycle on a dismal note. They sit sixth as of current on the standings and will be hoping for a better result against India.
