Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja underlined the reason behind Team India's early exit from the Asia Cup 2022. Raja, who will watch his team square off against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final on September 11 (Sunday) said that too much chopping and changing with the playing XI ultimately came back to bite the Men in Blue.
Rohit Sharma and company started and ended the continental tournament with two emphatic victories but the team's failure to register a win against Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage cost them dearly. Reacting to India's early ouster, Ramiz Raja compared his strategy with that of Indian management and said that India went down because of too much experimentation.
"You have seen the team’s ranking; the results are also visible. If we compare the teams of India and Pakistan, people have been asking me why am I playing the same combination? You will leave them injured or so My point is that we have handled a particular situation and won games. So, why should I change the winning model," said Raja as quoted by News 18.
"India went down only because they are not letting the model set. They are making too many changes. They have a bigger pool of players with which they are experimenting. So, unless you don’t have that kind of bench strength, you don’t need experimentation.
"You have got a strong position so just hold that and keep winning games," the PCB chief concluded.
