Australia lost all their wickets for just 263 runs in 78.4 overs, after yet another dominant performance by their Indian bowlers. Led by record makers Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Team India got wickets at regular intervals to keep the visiting batters unsettled throughout the innings.
Jadeja and Ashwin got three wickets each, while Mohammed Shami took four in his 14.4 overs.
The star India all-rounder achieved yet another milestone to become the second fastest in Test history to complete 250 wickets and 2500 runs, and the fastest Indian to do so as well. In doing so, he left behind legendary cricketers Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, Richard Hadlee and Shaun Pollock.
Australia's star batter Usman Khawaja became Jadeja's 250th Test scalp and his first on Day 1. KL Rahul took a one-handed stunner off Jadeja's ball to send Khawaja to the pavilion who was batting at 81 off 125 balls. Khawaja's wicket left the Australians teetering at 167/5.
