After a prolonged battle against a solid Pakistani partnership, Bangladesh finally managed to break the mammoth stand between Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan on Day 2 of the first Test. The breakthrough came in the 95th over of Pakistan's innings during the ongoing first Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Experienced off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz proved to be the nemesis for Shakeel, as he dismissed him with a sharp turner. The dismissal marked the end of a formidable partnership between the two batters, who had forged a strong partnership for the fifth wicket.
Mehidy strikes, Litton Das impresses
With the need for a breakthrough becoming increasingly urgent, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto turned to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The move proved to be a masterstroke as the off-spinner managed to dismiss Saud Shakeel on the final delivery of his over.
Mehidy, bowling from around the wicket, delivered a tossed-up delivery that turned sharply away from Shakeel. The southpaw, attempting a drive, was comprehensively beaten by Mehidy's guile. The ball was cleanly collected by Litton Das behind the stumps, who executed a lightning-fast stumping to send Shakeel back to the pavilion. Litton's swiftness behind the stumps drew comparisons to the legendary Indian wicket-keeper MS Dhoni, known for his exceptional stumping skills.
