Bangladesh tour of South Africa 2022

Bangladesh secured an incredible 38-run victory against South Africa in the first ODI of the three-match series, on March 18 (Friday) to clinch their first ODI win against Proteas on South African soil.

South Africa have expectedly left out the IPL-bound players from their 15-man Test squad for the two-match home series against Bangladesh starting March 31. South Africa will be without their entire first-choice pace attack comprising Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen as well as batters Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen as they chose the IPL over the Test series.

South Africa consolidated their position on the World Test Championships (WTC) points table after their emphatic Test series whitewash over Bangladesh at the St George's Park in Port Elizabeth on Monday (April 11).

In a bizarre incident that took place on Day 3 of the second Test match between Bangladesh and South Africa, Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan had to be stretchered off the field after missing a straightforward catch with the ball hitting him on his chest as he stood watching. Commentators believed that Hasan had lost sight of the ball in the background of the crowd but those watching on TV and in the stadiums saw the humour in the incident as Mehidy did not even move an inch at gully even as the ball came straight at him.

In the first ODI of the three-ODI series, Bangladesh stunned Temba Bavuma's side to register a 38-run victory after posting a highly impressive 315-run total in the first innings.

South Africa raced to a 220-run victory in the first test after Bangladesh's collapse to 53 all out on the morning of the final day on Monday (April 4).
