Taskin Ahmed's injury paved the way for Taijul Islam, who took no time to prove his mettle with the ball as he bowled a superb spell of 6/135 in the first innings of the ongoing second and final Test against South Africa. The left-arm spinner however has struggled for a place in playing XI in overseas. And the reason behind it is the presence of another left-arm spinner and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan despite Taijul's success as subcontinent spinner. After his impressive performance with the bowl in an interview session, Taijul was questioned about how he intends to fill the void left by Shakib’s absence in the side. The question didn't go down well with the spinner as Taijul was seen irritated while answering the needless question.

Commentators believed that Hasan had lost sight of the ball in the background of the crowd but those watching on TV and in the stadiums saw the humour in the incident as Mehidy did not even move an inch at gully even as the ball came straight at him.
