The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are going to do a selection meeting in Mumbai to announce the squad for the upcoming T20I series against England and there will be a discussion on the ODIs and Champions Trophy 2025 squad as well as it's still not sure whether ODIs and CT squads will be announced today or not.
Team India are scheduled to play a five-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series against England and this will be the team's last assignment before the Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to start from February 19.
Here are BCCI's points of discussion in the selection meeting which will take place in Mumbai.
India's performance in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25
The Cricket Board will have a discussion on Rohit Sharma's led India's performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where the Men in Blue lost 3-1 against Australia. The BCCI will discuss where India lacked in the red-ball series against Australia. Notably, India lost a Test series in Australia after 10 years. BCCI joint secretary Devajit Saikia, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and there are chances Gautam Gambhir will also attend that meeting.
Team selection for T20Is
All five selectors along with joint secretary Devajit Saikia will discuss for India's squad for the upcoming T20I series against England. India are scheduled to play five T20Is against England. India will most likely to go with the T20I squad featured in the T20I series against South Africa last year.
Discussion for ODI squad for England and CT
The team will discuss on ODI squad against England and the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. India speedster Jasprit Bumrah will be the major point of discussion as the pacer got injured during the fifth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. BCCI will look into the speedster's injury and how much time will it take to recover. There will be a discussion on Mohammed Shami as well who has been out of international cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
