New Zealand qualified for the Champions Trophy 2025 final.

New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner shared an update on speedster Matt Henry's injury. He got injured while fielding in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal clash against South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. However, New Zealand defeated South Africa to qualify for the final of the showpiece event.

The incident happened during the 29th over when Henry tried to take a low catch of Heinrich Klaasen but unfortunately, hurt his right shoulder. He was not looking fine after completing the catch as physio came into the field and he was forced to leave the game. However, he came and bowled two more over where he picked up Kagiso Rabada's wicket in 45th over.

He just bowled seven overs in the match and that's a huge concern for the BlackCaps ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 final against India which will take place on March 9. Addressing his injury, captain Mitchell Santner said that he had a sore shoulder and the team management will have to wait for a couple of days to understand the nature of the injury.

“Have to wait and see how Matt Henry's shoulder is. It's a bit sore, we have to wait for a couple of days and see,” Santner said in the post-match presentation.

New Zealand defeated South Africa by 50 runs to seal their berth in the final of the mega event. South Africa's David Miller was the lone warrior who kept the scoreboard ticking, otherwise it could have resulted in an embarrassing defeat. Miller made 100 but overall, Santner was happy with the performance of all the players.

“We took wickets in the middle overs and made it tough for the opposition. What we speak as a group is to apply pressure and take wickets in the middle. Michael Bracewell bowled really well in the last game to take a 4-fer. It was really pleasing for me to take three scalps today. It makes my job easier, we have four all-rounders who can bowl spin and they can bat as well. Rachin's five overs were great,” Santner said.
