Shreyas Iyer scored 243 runs in ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Former India cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar opened up on KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer's performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.  The duo of Iyer and KL Rahul had a massive contribution on the slow pitches of Dubai during India's campaign in the Champions Trophy. Iyer scored  243 runs in five outings. On the other hand, KL Rahul, who batted in four out of five matches and scored 140 runs with three unbeaten knocks, including a 34-run match-winning knock in the final against New Zealand.

Following a roller-coaster year when he won the IPL and was dropped from the central contracts at the same time, Iyer has shown his value to the team. Vengsarkar could not be more pleased for the middle-order batter.

"Iyer did very well but I am not happy the way he got out in the final. He should have continued till the very end and finished the game. But happy to see him realise his potential," Vengsarkar told PTI.

Vengsarkar also questioned the management decision to demote KL Rahul's batting order in the mega event. KL Rahul batted at number six during the whole Champions Trophy.
