Rohit Sharma-led India created history by defeating New Zealand in the final to clinch the ICC Champions Trophy at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Team India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. The Men in Blue defeated Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in their group stage match and they defeated Australia in the semifinal to seal their berth for the final where they defeated New Zealand by four wickets to win the seventh ICC title.
Shami was a part of India's 2023 ODI World Cup squad, where Rohit Sharma-led side lost the final against Australia after an unbeaten winning streak throughout the tournament. He ended the tournament as the highest wicket-taker, picking 24 wickets in seven matches. This is Shami's first ICC title.

India veteran speedster Mohammed Shami, who made his comeback just before the mega event, also played a huge role in India's campaign in the eight-team tournament where India played all their matches in Dubai. Shami picked up nine wickets including a fifer against Bangladesh in India's five outings of the mega event. The speedster took his 'X' formerly known as Twitter to dedicate the win for Indian fans.
"Victory is sweeter when 1.4 billion hearts celebrate with you! This one's for INDIA" wrote Shami.
This is India's third Champions Trophy title, the first one was shared with Sri Lanka in 2002, and the second title came under MS Dhoni's captaincy in 2013. With this win, India became the most successful team in Champions Trophy history, surpassing Australia with three titles.
