India vice-captain Shubman Gill smashed his seventh ODI century in the third match against England at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The batter who opened batting alongside Rohit, reached his hundred off 95 balls after India asked to bat.
Apart from the century, Gill became the quickest batter to reach 2500 ODI runs, he reached the milestone in the 50th match of the one-day format. The India star batter overtakes South Africa's Hashim Amla who got to the milestone previously in 51 innings.

Gill who was seen struggling in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 regained his form against England. He scored 87 and 60 in the first two matches of the ongoing white ball series.
Gill holds a great record in Australia where he smashed his highest T20I score with an unbeaten 126 against New Zealand in 2023. In his next outing the same year, Gill smashed his maiden Test ton at the same venue against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Coming back to the match, India captain Rohit Sharma who smashed a ton during the second ODI got cheaply dismissed on one run. Kohli scored 52 runs and Gill got out after scoring 112 runs off 102 balls.
