David Beckham, the former England football captain and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, exchanged jerseys with India cricket captain Rohit Sharma after Men in Blue's victory over New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final held at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on November 15.

 

Football legend Beckham's presence at the showpiece event, was part of a three-day visit to India as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

After the semifinal match between India and New Zealand concluded, Rohit met Beckham and presented the former England midfielder with an Indian team jersey bearing his name on the back. In return, Rohit was seen wearing a Real Madrid jersey with Beckham's name and number from his time playing for the LaLiga giants.

 

Beckham also extended his best wishes to Rohit and the Indian team for the upcoming final in Ahmedabad on November 19.

 

 

Beckham and Sachin Tendulkar also exchanged India and Inter Miami’s jerseys after the game. Notably, Rohit is the first Indian brand ambassador to Real Madrid and also became the first non-footballer in the history of La Liga to become the brand ambassador of Real.

 

India secured a dominant win over New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final, securing their place in the final. The game, held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, concluded with India triumphing by a margin of 70 runs. This victory marked India's 10th consecutive win in the tournament, highlighting their dominance and sustained performance.

 

India showcased their strong batting performance, with both Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer scoring centuries. Kohli's century was particularly significant as it was his 50th in one-day internationals (ODIs), surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most ODI hundreds. Shreyas Iyer's impressive century, described as fiery and consecutive, added to India's impressive total. Additionally, Shubman Gill's notable innings, retiring hurt on 79, further strengthened India's score to 397-4.

 

Shami's mastery over the ball was on full display as he wreaked havoc on New Zealand's batting lineup, claiming seven wickets and sending them packing for a mere 327 runs. This remarkable feat paved the way for India's historic entry into their fourth World Cup final.
