Seeing the troll's comment, AB de Villiers didn't hesitate to step in and defend Babar Azam. The South African legend crafted a clever reply to shut down the negativity and show his support for the Pakistan captain.
"His English is infinitely better than my Urdu. And his batting is excellent, which is what matters more, I believe," De Villiers replied to the fan.
In a recent interview on AB de Villiers' YouTube channel, Babar Azam opened up about the challenges he faced during his childhood. Despite these hardships, he expressed his gratitude for his parents' unwavering support, which ultimately played a key role in his journey to becoming one of Pakistan's most celebrated cricketers.
"My family played a big role because, when I started out, we did not have a lot of money. We were not like a rich family. When I started out, I played state cricket and played tennis ball cricket and tape-ball cricket every Saturday night. We used to be 2 teams and play together. After sometime, I told my father I wanted to start professional cricket, so he said ok, let us do it. So it was very difficult when I began my professional cricket journey," Babar said during a conversation with De Villiers.
Babar Azam is radiating positivity as the T20 World Cup kicks off on June 2 with the USA facing Canada in Dallas. Focused on the present, Azam assures fans he's not dwelling on the future, but brimming with confidence in his team's ability to perform well in this prestigious tournament.
Pakistan have a strong recent history in the T20 World Cup, reaching the semi-finals in 2021 and finishing runners-up in 2022. This year, their sights are set even higher as they look to claim their second T20 World Cup title, and their first since 2009.
