New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson will breathe a sigh of relief as his in-form leg-spinner Ish Sodhi is fit to play against Afghanistan in a must-win clash. Sodhi has passed all of his concussion tests after he was struck on the head while bowling against Namibia. Meanwhile, Sodhi is being monitored in line with health protocols.

Sodhi playing against Afghanistan will be crucial as a win will help them qualify for the T20 World Cup 2021 semi final whereas a loss will end their campaign on the basis of inferior net run rate.

The Ludhiana-born cricketer was hit on the head in the 12th over of Namibia’s run chase. Former South African all-rounder David Wiese got down the track and smashed the ball back at Sodhi hitting his head. The spinner tried to dodge it but fell on the ground upon impact. After immediate attention from the physio, he was cleared to bowl for the rest of the match.

Sodhi bowled three overs and picked the wicket of Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus. The 29-year-old has been in good form in the tournament taking seven wickets from four games including the economical spell against India where he took the wickets of Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

"We see it as another game. We've approached almost every game like that so far and hopefully we can do the same tomorrow. Be really clear on what's been working really well for us," Sodhi told reporters before their last group stage game.
