The 18th match of the ICC T20 World Cup will see South Africa take on the defending champions West Indies on October 26 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The contest is between the two teams of Group 1. While the Caribbean team led by skipper Kieron Pollard started their title defence on a disastrous note after the 2016 World Cup runners-up avenged their loss by beating the islanders by six wickets with 70 balls left, the Proteas began their campaign going down against Australia by five wickets after not being able to defend 118.
Head-to-Head
The two teams have played 15 matches against each other in this format. South Africa have won nine matches while West Indies have six wins under their name. The last time the two teams locked horns against each other, South Africa defeated West Indies by 25 runs.
Both the teams have started their ICC T20 World Cup campaign with a defeat and will look to put points on the table when they step onto the field on Tuesday.
Both South Africa and West Indies would want their batters to fire in their second game of the tournament as batting continues to be a concern for both the teams.
Quinton de Kock, who could manage just 12-ball seven against Australia, has a decent record against West Indies. The left-handed batter has amassed 255 runs from five matches at an average of 51 during the Proteas’ last tour of West Indies and will look to maintain the record.
The self-proclaimed ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle, who scored 13 in the first game against England will be eager to get runs under his belt.
The pitch that will be used in this match will be the same that was used in the previous game between India and Pakistan. The Dubai International Cricket Stadium is a batting-friendly surface and is expected to aid the batters. The pacers might get assistance towards the latter half of the match. The team winning the toss is likely to field first as the dew factor will come into play.
