Tazmin Brits played a brilliant 101-run knock, and Sune Luus remained unbeaten on 83, as South Africa Women secured a comfortable six-wicket win against New Zealand Women in their ODI World Cup 2025 clash at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

While chasing 232 runs, Proteas Women made it look easy by reaching the target in just 40.5 overs with nearly 10 overs to spare.

After losing captain Laura Wolvaardt early for 14, Brits and Luus took charge, stitched together a match-winning 159-run stand for the second wicket. Brits’ century came off just 98 balls and included 15 fours and a six. Luus played the perfect supporting role, anchoring the innings with her composed 83 off 114 deliveries, which included nine fours and a six.

Earlier, New Zealand looked in a strong position at 187 for 3, but a late collapse saw them bundled out for 231 in 47.5 overs. Captain Sophie Devine top-scored with a fighting 85, while Brooke Halliday chipped in with 45.

South African spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with excellent figures of 4 for 40 from her 10 overs, helping to trigger the collapse and keep New Zealand to a chaseable total.
