The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced India's squad for the five-match T20I series against Australia, which will take place from October 29, after the three-match ODI series, which is scheduled to start from October 19. India captain Suryakumar has retained his spot along with vice captain Shubman Gill.
The Men in Blue will feature the same squad they had during the Asia Cup 2025, except for one change. Hardik Pandya, the star all-rounder, has missed his spot from the T20I side, and the reason behind that must be an injury he got during India's third Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2025 against Sri Lanka, because that injury forced him to miss the title decider against Pakistan. Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar also confirmed that Hardik was not fit for the selection.
Apart from Hardik Pandya's exclusion, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar were also included in the T20I squad for the Australia series.
Notably, there was no discussion around veteran speedster Mohammed Shami's exclusion from India's scheme of things for the white ball series against Australia.
