Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel, who is also part of the Gujarat Titans (GT) coaching staff, picked his playing XI for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side for the first T20I against Australia. After finishing the three-match ODI series, Team India will now face Australia in a five-match T20I series, scheduled to start from October 29.
Parthiv Patel's playing XI explained
Parthiv picked Abhishek Sharma and vice-captain Shubman Gill as his openers. Then he picked India's Asia Cup final hero Tilak Varma and skipper Suryakumar Yadav as number three and four, respectively.
Parthiv then picked Sanju Samson as a wicketkeeper batter at five, followed by Axar Patel at six. Notably, he missed the veteran spinner Kuldeep Yadav and young speedster Harshit Rana. He picked Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakavarthy, and Arshdeep Singh as the frontline bowlers. The former cricketer also included Shivam Dube and Nitish Kumar Reddy as the two pace-bowling all-rounders.
Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav's last outings
Harshit's last outing came in the ODIs against Australia, where he ended as the highest wicket-taker with six scalps in three matches, including a four-wicket haul in the third ODI. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav, who managed to get one ODI against Australia, is also one of the consistent performers for India. He was the highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup 2025, where India defeated Pakistan in the final to clinch the title.
