Story Highlights:

Rohit Sharma was livid as Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped catches on Day 4 of MCG Test.

Jaiswal dropped three catches on Day 4.

Marnus Labuschagne went on to score 71 runs.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma was left frustrated on Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Yashasvi Jaiswal had a forgettable day in the slip cordon as he dropped crucial catches. Jaiswal in the 40th over of the innings, dropped Marnus Labuschagne's catch off Akash Deep's bowling. The ball was on Jaiswal's left. He got two hands to it but could not hang on. Rohit threw his hands in the air and shouted as the catch went down.

Labuschagne was batting on 46 when his catch was dropped. Meanwhile, Deep was searching for his first wicket. Australia would have been 99/7 had Jaiswal taken the catch. Labuschagne went on to score 70 runs from 139 balls. He was eventually knocked over by Mohammed Siraj in the third session of Day 4's play.

Jaiswal's other dropped catches on Day 4

Jaiswal dropped two more catches on Day 4. The first one he dropped was in the third over of the innings. Usman Khawaja edged one off Jasprit Bumrah. He was placed at leg gully. It was low and Jaiswal got both hands on it before it slipped out. Khawaja was batting on just two runs and went on to score 21. He was dismissed by Siraj as well.

His third dropped catch of the day was of captain Pat Cummins. Ravindra Jadeja was bowling and Jaiswal was stationed at silly point. Cummins defended it but did not have control. Jaiswal was not in a good position and the ball once again slipped out of his hands. Had he stayed low, the catch would have been taken. Earlier in the Test, Rohit had advised Jaiswal to stay low until the ball passes him. The skipper was once again livid as he stood at slip. Cummins was batting on 21 when he was given a reprieve.

Jaiswal's contribution with bat

Jaiswal has not been lucky in the MCG Test. He missed a potential second century of the series after a mix-up with Virat Kohli led to his run out. The opener departed after scoring 82 runs from 118 balls including 11 fours and a six.
