The Indian men's cricket team had a mixed year in 2024. Now the Rohit Sharma-led side will be hoping that 2025 will bring them a number of highs, including the Asia Cup, five Test matches against England, and the much-awaited Champions Trophy. In the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, India lost to Australia by 184 runs, bringing Rohit Sharma and company's 2024 to a devastating conclusion. India has not achieved the expected outcomes since winning the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

Two of the biggest setbacks for Indian men's cricket have been the home Test series loss to New Zealand and the ODI series loss to Sri Lanka. In 15 Test matches in 2024, India recorded eight victories, six defeats, and one draw. In 2024, India only participated in one ODI series, losing to Sri Lanka in three games.

India's campaign in 2025

At the Sydney Cricket Ground, India will play Australia in the last Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to kick off 2025. To stay in the running for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Rohit Sharma and his squad must win this game. They would be eliminated with a draw or loss. The Champions Trophy will become the main focus following the Sydney Test. India's campaign will begin on February 20 against Bangladesh, and they will play their first games in Dubai.

Beginning on January 22, India will play England in three ODIs and five T20Is before the Champions Trophy. India's fourth World Test Championship cycle will begin later this year when they visit England for a five-match Test series. The Asia Cup and two Test matches against the West Indies are scheduled to kick off India's eventual home season in October 2024. India is set to play 18 T20Is, 10 Tests and 12 ODIs in bilateral series excluding the ICC and ACC competitions in 2025.
