Story Highlights:

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to perform in 4 Tests of BGT 2024-25.

Australia defeated India by 184 runs in Boxing Day Test of BGT 2024-25.

Sunil Gavaskar passed a massive verdict on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's lean patch after the veteran batters failed to perform in the fourth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Rohit played 26 Test innings where he scored 619 runs at an average of 24.76 and on the other hand Kohli who started the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 with a century failed to carry the momentum. He scored 417 runs in his 19 Test innings at an average of 24.52.

After winning the fourth Test, Australia took a 2-1 lead in the five-Test match series and now both teams will feature in the fifth Test match scheduled to start from January 3-7 next year.

"They have to score runs. If there is no form, there is no run, look, there is no form, that's one thing. But the way they get out, that's also something to look at. Sometimes when you don't have luck, you can get out of a very good game, there is a very good catch, there is a run out, there is a bad decision of the umpire, you can get out there. But the way they are getting out, it seems like there is another issue, we will have to treat it" Gavaskar told Sports Tak.

After registering an 184-run win in the fourth Test match, Australia have strengthened their position for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final scheduled to take place in England next year. On the other hand, India needs to win the remaining Test match against Australia which will take place at Sydney Cricket Stadium (SCG) in Sydney to stay in the race for the WTC final. South Africa have already confirmed their berth for the final after beating Pakistan in the first Test. The WTC final will take place at Lords Cricket Stadium in England. Australia are the defending World Test Champions and India has featured in both editions of the finale.
