Highlights:

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 84 runs in second innings of Boxing Day Test.

Australia defeated India by 184 runs in Boxing Day Test of BGT 2024-25.

Australia captain Pat Cummins is confident that Yashasvi Jaiswal had edged that short delivery which resulted in the Indian opener’s dismissal in the third session of the 4th Test on Monday. Jaiswal who was looking set on the second innings of the Boxing Day Test got a controversial dismissal as the third umpire decided to declare southpaw despite no spike on the Snickometer at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne.

Fans at MCG started chanting cheater after the on-field umpire changed his decision. This happened during the 71st over of India’s second innings, Cummins tested Jaiswal, batting on 84, with a short delivery. The youngster obliged and went for a pull, a shot he failed to connect as the ball went into the gloves of wicketkeeper Alex Carey.

“Oh look, I think it was just clear that he (Jaiswal) hit it," Cummins told reporters after Australia won the match by 184 runs. “We heard a noise, saw a deviation, so it was absolutely certain that he hit it. As soon as we referred it, you could see him drop his head and basically acknowledge that he hit it. On the screen you can see he hit it" said Cummins told media after Australia's win.

However, the Australia captain also admitted that technology cannot be trusted 100 per cent.

“Ultra-edge… I don’t think anyone has complete confidence in it and didn’t really show much but fortunately there’s enough other evidence to show it was clearly out," he said.
