In a major turn of events, England have named a 17-member squad for the upcoming five-game T20I series against India on Monday, June 22. Notably, the Men in Blue have picked teen batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for the T20I series, the Three Lions decided to pick Sussex all-rounder James Coles, who is the youngest player in England's history to play a first-class game.
The all-rounder achieved the feat at the tender age of 16 years and 157 days. His selection marks a big milestone in his career.
High hopes from young all-rounder
England have rewarded all-rounder James Coles for his strong reputation as a dependable left-arm spinner and attacking batter, known for accelerating the scoring rate in the death overs. In T20s, Coles has managed to amass 1,373 runs and clinch 53 wickets in just 71 games.

Other than Coles, Jordan Cox, Sonny Baker and Saqib Mahmood have made their return to the T20 setup after missing out on England's squad for the T20 World Cup 2026.
Who is missing out?
Injury setbacks have deprived England of the services of two important speedsters for the T20I series against India. Brydon Carse continues to stay out of action after missing the entire IPL 2026 season because of injury concerns. On the other hand, Jamie Overton has also missed out on the selection, as his stint with Chennai Super Kings came to a premature end because of an injury. Selectors have called Sonny Baker and Saqib Mahmood to fill their places.
