Gurnoor Brar picked up seven wickets in three matches and set a new Indian record in a maiden three-match ODI series.

India claimed a dominating 3-0 win in the ODI series against Afghanistan, where debutant Gurnoor Brar has managed to emerge as one of the biggest positives for the Men in Blue. The Punjab Pacer grabbed his chance with both hands after making debut in the first ODI in Dharamshala, filling the void left by Jasprit Bumrah.

Gurnoor concluded the series on a high note, by becoming the leading wicket-taker and also etched his name into the record books by registering the most wickets by an Indian bowler in a three-game maiden ODI series.

Instant impact by Gurnoor Brar

Brar has managed to claim seven wickets in just three matches, at an average of 19.43. With an impressive performance in the maiden ODI series, Brar has been awarded the Impact Player of the Series medal. Skipper Shubman Gill handed over the medal to the young Indian speedster.

Gill appreciated Brar for showcasing great efforts in his maiden International series, saying "Someone who’s only playing his first series and the kind of efforts that he put in were unbelievable," while finishing speech the Indian skipper urged Brar to continue his hard work to find more success at the biggest stage.

“Gurnoor Brar, hopefully this will only encourage you to keep working harder and getting better," concluded Gill.

In response, Gurnoor received the medal with a big medal and thanked everyone for their support and promised to continue the hard work.

The right-arm pace made an instant impact, clinching three wickets for just 27 runs in the first ODI before adding another 3/60 in the second game. Heading into the third and final ODI, he needed just one more wicket to surpass the record. However, he had to stay patient through a lengthy seven-over spell in challenging heat before eventually achieving the milestone.
