India’s former captain Rohit Sharma has reached London nearly a week ahead of the three-ODI series against England. Actively playing just one format on the international stage, Rohit has been training in London against local club bowlers and meeting his close friends.
As per a report by TOI, Rohit played at Slough Cricket Club, Berkshire. Then, he moved to Swyncombe Cricket Club located near Blondin Park. The early arrival is to ensure he doesn’t make the same mistake as the T20I team, giving himself enough time to acclimitise to the conditions before the action begins in Birmingham on July 14.
Lack of game time, Rohit’s numbers in previous ODI series
Many have pointed out that 39-year-old Rohit's form may be affected as he plays only format and there are long breaks between competitive games. He had suffered a hamstring injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 which kept him out of several games. In the three-ODI series against Afghanistan, he scored 143 runs from three innings, including a 79-run knock from 69 balls in the third ODI.
Rohit’s ODI record in England and against England
Rohit has an impressive record on England soil. From 27 innings, he has 1,428 runs averaging nearly 65. He has seven centuries and as many fifties in English conditions. Against England, he has scored 846 runs at an average of 47, featuring three tons and four fifties.
Rohit set to go past Inzamam
Rohit needs 20 more runs to surpass Pakistan's legendary batter Inzamam-ul-Haq on the list of leading run-scorers in ODIs. Inzamam currently occupies the seventh spot with 11,739 runs.
Rohit has played 285 ODIs and scored 11,720 runs from 277 innings, averaging 48.83. He has 33 tons and 62 fifties in ODIs. His strike rate of 92.97 is the highest among batters with 10,000 or more runs in ODIs.
Ro-Ko to unite
The first ODI will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Rohit will be joined by Virat Kohli who missed the ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury. The second ODI will be played on July 16 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The third and the final ODI of the series will be hosted by the iconic Lord's in London on July 19.
