In a series of interesting events, the BCCI named an updated squad for India's upcoming three-game ODI series against England on Monday, July 6. The board confirmed that Shivam Dube will replace the injured all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. The updated squad also brought big news about Virat Kohli's fitness.
Big update on Nitish Kumar Reddy and Virat Kohli
The star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter will be seen in the ODI series against England, as he was originally selected on the basis of fitness. The 37-year-old batter endured a hamstring injury while playing for RCB in the IPL 2026 final, after which the selectors selected Kohli for the England ODI on the basis of fitness.

Now that the star Indian batter is fully fit, India's middle-order has received a big boost, as missing a batter like Kohli could have been a big miss while facing a formidable side like England in the fifty-over format.
What happened to Nitish Kumar Reddy?
Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of India's Ireland and England tours, because he suffered a left quadriceps injury, which worsened during the third ODI against Afghanistan last month. The all-rounder is going through rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is aiming for a return in India's two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in August.
Big chance for Shivam Dube
For Shivam Dube, the England ODI series presents a big opportunity to establish himself as a regular for India in the fifty-over format. Currently, he sits behind Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy in all-rounders' pecking order, but with players dealing with injuries, a good performance can guarantee him a promotion in the pecking order.
India's updated squad for England ODIs:
Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar, Shivam Dube
