Rasikh Salam has been reprimanded for his aggressive celebration against Gujarat Titans.

Delhi Capitals' fast bowler Rasikh Salam Dar has payed the price for his aggressive celebration during their nail-biting victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2024 clash on April 24 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Rasikh has been reprimanded for breaching IPL's code of conduct. However, despite the reprimand, it was a night to remember for Rasikh, who emerged as a key performer for DC with the ball. He bagged crucial wickets, including B Sai Sudarshan, Shahrukh Khan, and R Sai Kishore, finishing his spell with impressive figures of 3/44 in four overs.

“Dar committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” read a statement from IPL.

As per IPL code of conduct, Article 2.5 includes any language, action or gesture used by a Player and directed towards a batter upon his/her dismissal which has the potential to provoke an aggressive reaction from the dismissed batter, whether or not any reaction results, or which could be considered to disparage or demean the dismissed batter, regardless of whether the batter him/herself feels disparaged or demeaned (in other words, a ‘send-off’).

Article 2.5 of IPL's code of conduct includes:

(a) excessive celebration directed at and in close proximity to the dismissed batter;

(b) verbally abusing the dismissed batter; and

(c) pointing or gesturing towards the pavilion

Talking about the match, Rishabh Pant was the star of the show for DC, smashing an unbeaten 88 runs off just 43 balls.  His knock was perfectly complemented by Axar Patel's quickfire 66 off 43 balls, as the duo stitched together a crucial 113-run partnership to propel Delhi to a commanding total of 224 for 4 wickets after being invited to bat first.

Gujarat Titans fought valiantly in their chase.  Openers Sai Sudarshan (65) and David Miller (55) struck impressive fifties, but their efforts fell short.  Despite a late cameo of 26 runs from 7 balls by Tristan Stubbs, GT finished at 220 for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

This victory marks Delhi's fourth win of the season, propelling them to the sixth position in the IPL points table.
