Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant etched his name in history on March 28, Thursday, as he became the first player to ever play 100 matches for the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pant achieved the special milestone during DC's IPL 2024's clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Pant's loyalty to the Delhi Capitals is known to everyone. In 2016, the Delhi Capitals secured a young Rishabh Pant for Rs 1.90 crore, marking the beginning of his IPL journey. The left-handed batsman has since become a vital part of the team, and his contract now reflects his value, fetching him Rs 16 crore per season. Throughout his time with DC, Pant has amassed an impressive 2856 runs, maintaining a consistent average of 34.41 and an aggressive strike rate of 147.9.

Notably, the 26-year-old returned to cricket field after a gap of 14 months following horrific car accident in December in 2022. He was declared fit by the BCCI to play in the IPL 2024. His comeback match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur saw him score 18 runs off 13 balls, though DC fell short by four wickets. This match also held historical significance for Pant, as it was his 99th appearance for the franchise, making him the first player to achieve this feat. He will undoubtedly be looking to make his upcoming 100th match a memorable one for both himself and the Delhi Capitals.

Currently, the only other player to have donned the Delhi Capitals' jersey for over 90 matches is veteran spinner Amit Mishra, who now plays for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).  Mishra boasts an impressive record of 99 appearances for Delhi.  Former captain Shreyas Iyer, who now leads the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), also contributed significantly with 87 matches played for Delhi Capitals.
