India U-19 World Cup-winning skipper Yash Dhull is currently in fine form as the Delhi-born batter hit centuries in both innings on his Ranji Trophy debut. Dhull became just the third cricketer to score a century in each innings (113 & 113 not out) on Ranji Trophy debut.
Previously, Nari Contractor for Gujarat back in 1952-53 season and Virag Awate for Maharashtra in 2012-13 season, managed to achieve this amazing feat.
Dhull ready for IPL
The 19-year-old batter was picked up by Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise at the mega auction for the Indian Premier League 2022, for Rs 50 lakh.
While talking about his experience of the mega auction, Dhull recalled that he “was already expecting to get picked by Delhi Capitals.”
"I was already expecting to get picked by Delhi Capitals as I am also a part of their academy. I am really looking forward to meeting Ricky Ponting and performing under his guidance," Yash Dhull was quoted while talking to news agecny ANI.
While talking about the opposition bowlers, Dhull revealed that English pacer Jofra Archer is one bowler he “would like to face.” It is important to mention that Jofra Archer will be seen playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise in the 15th edition of IPL.
"Jofra Archer is one bowler I would like to face. He is really quick with his bowling. And during IPL for DC, I would love to make a partnership with David Warner," he added.
Recalling U-19 WC
While talking about his U-19 World Cup experience, Dhull recalled the interactions India U-19 team had with former India skipper Virat Kohli and former India cricketer VVS Laxman.
"It was a great moment when Virat Kohli shared his experiences with our team. All the boys got motivated to do well in the summit clash.
"Presence of VVS Laxman sir in our camp proved to be really beneficial for us. He shared his experiences with us that helped us in taking the game forward on the field. He taught us to be calm and how to maintain ourselves during the match," he added.
In the Ranji Trophy, Dhull had to change his position in the batting order and was seen opening for the Delhi side. But this change did not bother him much as he had “full faith” in himself that he “can perform well.”
"When I got to know that I will be opening in the Ranji, I made a different mindset accordingly. I had full faith in myself that I can perform well," explained Dhull.
