Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have dealt with a big setback right ahead of their crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Gujarat Titans (GT). According to reports in Aajkaal, KKR's fast bowler Vaibhav Arora has sustained an injury ahead of their scheduled clash at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 21.
KKR's Vaibhav Arora suffers injury ahead of GT clash
As per the reports, Vaibhav Arora injured his finger during a recent practice session. It all happened while the star pacer was attempting to take a catch off a shot struck by teammate Andre Russell. At this time, the extent of his injury and his availability for the game against Gujarat Titans remain uncertain.
Should Vaibhav Arora be deemed unfit to participate, it would be a big blow to KKR. The fast bowler has been a valuable asset for the defending champions, given his contributions with the new ball and his effectiveness in the crucial death overs. His potential absence would necessitate a reshuffling of their bowling attack and could impact their overall performance in the highly anticipated match.
In the current IPL 2025 season, Vaibhav has featured in six matches for KKR. Throughout these appearances, the fast bowler has maintained a bowling average of approximately 24 runs per wicket. His most notable performance came in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where he bowled a brilliant spell of 3/29, earning him the player of the match award.
The potential unavailability of Vaibhav for the upcoming game will also come as headache for KKR, who have been striving for consistency in the league. The team management will undoubtedly be hoping for his timely recovery.
KKR have experienced an inconsistent run of form in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Currently positioned at the sixth spot on IPL 2025 points table, Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR have recorded three wins and four losses in their seven matches played so far.
On the other hands, GT, after bulldozing Delhi Capitals by seven wickets at the Narendra Modi stadium on April 19, rocketed to top of the IPL 2025 points table.
