South Africa's batter Dewald Brevis has reportedly concluded his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. His departure comes after IPL 2025 was suspended for a week due to heightened border tensions between India and Pakistan. With the IPL 2025 currently on hold and his team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), already out of contention for the playoffs, Brevis's stint ended earlier than expected.

Brevis had joined the CSK squad mid-season, coming in as an injury replacement for Gurjapneet Singh. Despite the limited duration of his stay, he apparently managed to leave a notable mark through his energy, obvious talent, and ability to connect with the fanbase.

Before flying back to South Africa, Dewald Brevis came out with a heartfelt post and conveyed his gratitude to the entire CSK team, including the coaches, support staff, and the fans, for the warm welcome and encouragement he received during his period with the team in IPL 2025.

The young South African talent reportedly shared several photos of himself in the team's yellow colours on his Instagram account, reflecting fondly on his time with the franchise.

In his social media post, Brevis described the atmosphere at the Chepauk Stadium as nothing short of electrifying and stated that his time spent in India will always remain special to him. The Proteas star's heartfelt message conveyed that the memories made with CSK are ones that he will cherish forever.

“A big thank you to my Chennai team, coaches, support staff, and our amazing Chennai fans. The atmosphere at the Chepauk Stadium was electrifying. Thank you for the support all around India. The time I spend in India will always be close to my heart, and the memories with Chennai will last a lifetime. See you soon… 💛🦁#Cricket #Yellove #IPL,” Dewald Brevis wrote on X.

Despite participating in only four matches during IPL 2025, Dewald Brevis prove his batting prowess by scoring 126 runs at an impressive strike rate of 163.63. His standout performance came against Kolkata Knight Riders, where he powerfully hit a half-century off just 22 balls. He also hammered 30 runs in a single over bowled by Vaibhav Arora. While Chennai Super Kings suffered a nightmarish campaign in the IPL 2025, managing only three wins from 12 games, Brevis is said to have emerged as a distinct positive for the team.

Earlier, BCCI has suspended IPL 2025 with immediate effect after escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. This decision reportedly occurred soon after the 58th match of the season, contested between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, was cancelled midway. However, both India and Pakistan have mutually agreed to immediate ceasfire, BCCI will soon resume the 18th season of the cash-rich league.
