DC’s batting order shuffle remains a concern despite Rana’s quick-fire fifty.

Delhi Capitals (DC) lost their IPL 2026 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 47 runs on Tuesday, April 21 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. Despite a strong start in the first 10 overs DC failed to chase 242.

Aaron Finch backs Tristan Stubbs to bat at No.3

The batting position of No.3 is a big concern for the Delhi-based franchise in the ongoing season, starting with Nitish Rana before giving a only chance to Karun Nair against RCB. However, DC backed Nitish Rana again in the clash against SRH and the former KKR batter repaid the faith by scoring 57 runs off 30 balls clocking a strike rate of 190.00 with the help of seven boundaries and three sixes.

Despite Nitish Rana coming back to form, former Australian batter Aaron Finch wants a different batter to play at the No.3 slot. In an interaction with ESPNCricinfo, the Aussie stated that DC must try South Africa's Tristan Stubbs to come up in the order.

While backing Stubbs, Finch noted his explosive batting style and the ability to fully utilise the power play, the former Aussie batter believes by giving the maximum number of balls to Stubbs would help them to have better chances against rival teams.

"He (Stubbs) is explosive from the start; he can maximise the power play. If he gets through the power play, then you are giving him the best opportunity to bat as long a period of time as he possibly can," said Aaron Finch

Finch further mentioned that DC shuffling their big hitters is a big concern for them saying that they need to back their finishers to play a certain number of balls to gain momentum over the opponent.

"Again, I keep coming back to teams that keep shuffling down their finishers. They get so scared of their finishers getting out early that they don’t let them bat long enough," added Finch.
