On April 11, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost their fifth match on the trot in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The bowlers did not have much to defend as the hosts managed to post 103/9, their lowest score at home. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) chased down the target with eight wickets in hand and 59 balls to spare but their Afghan left-arm chinaman bowler Noor Ahmad still holds the purple cap.

Noor was introduced in the eighth over. KKR had already scored 85/1. On the first ball of the innings, he outfoxed Sunil Narine. The googly got the better of KKR opener as he got bowled. He departed after scoring 44 runs from 18 balls, featuring two fours and five sixes. Noor bowled another over but did not get a wicket. He conceded eight runs from two overs.

KKR bowlers make gains

There were no more changes in top five. CSK's Khaleel Ahmed held his position despite going for 40 runs in three overs. KKR's mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy and young pacers Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana moved up. Chakravarthy dismissed Vijay Shankar and impact player Deepak Hooda. He is placed ninth with eight wickets from six games. Rana took two wickets for 16 runs and holds the 13th spot with seven wickets. Vaibhav is just below him with seven wickets from five games.

Siraj, Kishore's chance to take purple cap

On April 12, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Gujarat Titans (GT) at home. It will be an opportunity for Shardul Thakur to move into top five. Thakur has nine wickets from five games. LSG's young spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi can move up as well. For GT, their left-arm spinner Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore and Mohammed Siraj have a chance to take the purple cap. Both Kishore and Siraj have 10 wickets each.

In the second match, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lock horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS). There is no SRH bowler in top 20. On the other hand, PBKS have Arshdeep Singh in 19th position with six wickets from four games. The left-arm pacer has a chance to break into top five.
