In Wednesday's May 13 match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) powered past Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to almost confirm their berth in the playoffs. It was another masterclass from RCB Virat Kohli in a run chase that ensured the men in red dominantly achieved the target of 192. Kohli, who scored his ninth IPL century and 10th overall, was the one who led the way for RCB with a 105 not out in 60 balls.
After the game was done and dusted, KKR mentor, another IPL legend, Dwayne Bravo, was seen in the RCB dressing room, where he asked Kohli to play as long as he could.
Dwayne Bravo's heartwarming request to Virat Kohli
In a video shared by RCB on their Instagram handle, the team was in a meeting after the game, and at the end of the video, Bravo came to the RCB dressing room to get a jersey signed by Kohli. After the 37-year-old former RCB skipper signed the jersey, the two shared a hug, and Bravo was heard asking Kohli to play the game as long as possible, saying the game needs him.
"Play as long as possible - The sport need you, Virat," Bravo said.
Alongside his ninth-century Virat Kohli also became the quickest batter to 14000 T20 runs, taking only 409 innings to reach the milestone. Kohli also became their first Indian batter to 14000 runs and sixth overall.
RCB shift focus to top-two finish as playoff berth nears
With 16 points already in their bag, RCB are now on the verge of sealing their playoff spot in IPL 2026, with their attention gradually turning towards securing a top-two finish for the added advantage to make it to the finals.
RCB still has two league matches remaining — first against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamshala, followed by their final group-stage clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
If Bengaluru manages to win both fixtures, they will finish the league stage with 20 points, significantly boosting their chances of ending inside the top two and earning an extra opportunity to qualify for the IPL final.
