Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a commanding win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2026 clash on Friday, April 24 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Once again, Virat Kohli stood up to the occasion, scoring magnificent 81 off 44 balls while chasing 206.

With this win over the Shubman Gill-led side, RCB wrapped up their home leg on a good note, securing four victories in five matches. Virat Kohli was awarded with the Player-of-the-Match award for his splendid performance against a quality bowling attack like Gujarat. The former India captain smashed 81 runs off just 44 deliveries at a strike rate of 184.09 with the help of eight boundaries and four sixes.

The star right-handed batter called the home venue a 'special' place to play cricket and expressed the gratitude towards the fans for their unwavering support. Virat was quite happy with the result of the home stint as RCB secured four wins in five matches.

 

“Firstly, we were quite happy we were able to play five games here and the fans got to see the team again," said Virat Kohli at the presentation ceremony.

 

 

“We were happy to play here, it’s a special place to play cricket. It’s been brilliant to play at home and win four games. Hopefully we’ll be able to come back and play here again later in the season," Virat added.

 

 

Virat Kohli's outstanding form in IPL 2026

The star RCB opener is going through a red-hot form in the ongoing IPL 202, with a clear intent to score runs with an attacking approach. Virat has managed to score over 328 runs in just seven games at an average of 54.67 with a great strike rate of 163.18.

The 37-year-old batter has scored three half-centuries in the competition with his highest score of 81 off 44 balls coming against GT. He currently holds the orange cap with Abhishek Sharma sitting at second with 323 runs.

Next challenge for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026

After securing a great win against GT, RCB will face Delhi Capitals (DC) in their upcoming game in IPL 2026 on Monday, April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Currently the Bengaluru-based side sit at the second position in the standings with 10 points in hand after playing seven matches (5 wins and 2 losses) with a strong net run rate of +1.101.
