Australia all-rounder Cameron Green became the most expensive player in IPL mini-auction history. After an intense bidding war with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) roped in Green for a whopping Rs 25.20 crore.
The previous record belonged to his Australian teammate Mitchell Starc. Coincidentally, KKR roped in Starc for Rs 24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 mini-auction.

However, Green will only get Rs 18 crore, not the entire amount. This is because he did not register for the mega auction last year. The maximum salary for a player missing from mega auction is capped at Rs 18 crore. The remaining Rs 7.2 crore will go to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Where does Green stand on IPL most expensive players' list?
Green is also the third-most expensive player in IPL history. In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) acquired Rishabh Pant’s services for Rs 27 crore. Before that, Punjab Kings (PBKS) got their captain Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore.
Will Green bowl in IPL 2026?
Green has confirmed that he is available to bowl in IPL 2026. He was only listed in IPL auction in the batters' category because his manager ticked the wrong box mistakenly.
"I'll be good to bowl," Green said. "I don't know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn't mean to say 'batter'. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it's all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end."
